APPLICATION: TRABANT ENGINE – DIRECT DRIVE
CONSTRUCTIONAL DESIGN
The propellers are made of wooden blocks composed of lamellas of ash or beech wood. The lamellas and wooden blocks are glued using a two-component epoxy adhesive.

The blade leading edge protection is made of abrasion resistant high quality casted material containing filler of metal particles.

The wood is milled-off from the blade leading edge in the depth of 5 mm along one third of the blade length. This section of leading edge is then reshaped by the protective mixture of casted resin and filler of metal particles.

The blade surface protection is provided by one layer of protective resin applied in a bath with temperature of 35°C for 5 minutes. Then after drying and smoothing by sand paper another two sprayed layers of a polyurethane primer are applied. The final top surface is provided by application of 3 sprayed layers of transparent polyurethane lacquer. The blade tips are marked out by yellow or red paint.

The tractor mode propellers are usually painted by matt black coat on the pressure side of blades to prevent possible dazzle.
